Taichi in the park

A seasonal outdoor program for balance, breath, and community

Tai Chi in the Park is a gentle, nature-based program offered by Mindful Taichi Co. from May through early October. Across 15 sessions, we gather in three local parks to practice slow, mindful movement that supports balance, relaxation, and connection.

Registration is now open.

We warmly invite you to join us this season.

This program is open to all levels and is especially welcoming for older adults, beginners, and anyone seeking a softer, more grounded way to care for body and mind.

Each class emphasizes:

  • Relaxed, accessible movement
  • Awareness of breath and body
  • Safe stepping and balance
  • A calm, supportive pace

Program Overview

  • 15 sessions (May – early October 2026)
  • Rotating across three local parks
  • Gentle, beginner-friendly instruction
  • Focus on balance, fall prevention, and relaxation
  • Includes community gathering sessions

Locations & Experience

West Park (Carmel IN)
Smooth paved space that supports stable, accessible Tai Chi practice. Especially helpful for balance and stepping.

Coxhall Gardens (Carmel IN)
Open green space with peaceful lake views. Encourages spacious movement, breath awareness, and visual calm.

Cool Creek Park (Carmel IN)
Shaded natural setting for mindful walking, reflection, and connection. Hosts special gathering sessions with optional picnic time.

Program Intention

This program is designed as a gentle progression over time.

Rather than focusing on performance, we cultivate:

  • Stability through relaxed posture
  • Confidence through repetition
  • Awareness through slow, intentional movement

Participants gradually become more familiar with:

  • Weight shifting
  • Coordinated stepping
  • Balance in motion
  • Awareness-led movement

Beyond physical benefits, the program also creates space for quiet presence and community connection, especially during our Cool Creek gatherings.

Special Community Sessions

Two sessions at Cool Creek Park offer extended time for connection:

  • June 6 – Opening Community Session
Tai Chi practice followed by mindful walking in shaded areas
  • October 3 – Closing Gathering & Picnic
Gentle closing practice with optional social time

These sessions invite participants to slow down, connect with nature, and share space with others.
